It’s Cocktail Time : French Basil 75

Hey Guys! I’m posting this straight from Sickville, USA. It only took one week of fall weather to get the whole fam sick. I just hope that this is not how the rest of the winter goes.

Anyways I’ve had this post in the vaults for awhile and thought I’d share it with you today. I don’t know how much I’ll be posting this week it all depends on how soon I start to feel better. It’s totally exhausting to watch sick kids and be sick as I’m sure some of you know. We made this drink a few weekends ago when the weather was still warm. It’ll be perfect if you need a dose of summer in the fall and winter months.

French Basil 75

▼ 1 cup water
▼ 1 cup sugar
▼ 1 cup loosely packed basil.

In small saucepan bring water, sugar and basil to a boil. Turn off heat and let steep for 1 hour, then transfer to fridge and let cool for another hour. Use a colander to separate herbs from syrup.

▼ 2 cups ice
▼ 1/2 cup Hendricks Gin
▼ 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
▼ 1 750ml bottle champagne or Prosecco

Place 1 cup ice, 1/4 cup gin, 1/8 cup lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons simple syrup in cocktail shaker. Shake well, then strain into 2 chilled glasses or flutes. Divide Champagne among glasses and serve. Add a lemon peel for garnish.

Hope you all stay healthy. Wish me luck, I hope to be back to my old self soon.

Hope you feel better soon! Taking care of kids while being totally sick totally sucks.

Thanks! I’m feeling better today, although I’m not 100% yet.
