So, I couldn’t resist making Beak & Cam’s baby an afghan, just like the sunburst blanket I made for Elsa when she was borned. Believe me, I tried to resist, I knew it was going to take a lot of time and I probably should’ve started back in the cold days of winter. It’s totally my duty to bestow blankets on all the cool babies of the world. I couldn’t let Cam’s baby girl not have some sunburst lovin’ too, so here we go! You probably wouldn’t have guessed it but my first post ever on the blog was about the granny square afghan I made for Elsa, and to this day it is the most popular post on the blog, crazy huh? I guess I got some good SEO vibes on that one. Anyway, since I always get tons of questions on it, and since I can’t remember all the details, I thought I’d get more into for this version of the Granny square. For all you crochet nerds out there. A Sick Snowy Weekend

The Allen fam was confined to our house this weekend. We all came down with the same nasty cold and I was as sick as I had been in a long time. Luckily the weather didn’t make us feel like venturing out too far, and we got to snuggle in and be cozy. I was able to finish a bunch of projects that I’ve been wanting to get done for awhile from the comfort of my couch. I have been scouring craigslist for a mid century style desk for my entryway for over 6 months. Let me just say i’s brutal out there, if you don’t respond within one hour you don’t have a chance, secondly people will steal a desk from you. I had one guy holding a desk for me until I got off work and the next thing I knew I was getting a call saying “oops he sold it.” So I finally found this solid-walnut gem. I work with this awesome kid/guy/dude Zack Pivec, who knows everyone and everything about MPLS including the grounds keeper at the new Twins stadium. Anyhow, I only hope Finn turns out half as cool as Zack. So the other day he comes into work with this hilarious awesome weird hat that he crocheted himself. A Hat Comes Full Circle

I made this adorable little hat (and booties not pictured) for Flicka last spring before she was even born, her mom Urs just sent me some photos of Flicka modeling the goods. This hat is just about to be too small for this little lady. Why Can’t I Ever Finish Anything???

So this is the stuff I have slowly been working on, I thought maybe if I posted something about it I’d give my self inspiration and motivation to finish it because I don’t know how else I’m gonna do it. These granny squares are destined to become a new pillow for my couch IF I ever finish them. I started my squares because I missed the ease and the speed of crocheting, now I have a new project on my hands. I do heart me some granny squares though. Always and Forever. For the holidays I made two pair of mittens, one pair for Colez and one pair for my Dad. I was jealous of these mittens and wanted to keep them all for myself. Now I am trying to make a pair for myself and what do you know… I can’t finish them. So far I have one mitten down and one to go. And lastly, the sock I used to love is the sock I now hate.
