Etsy Finds

Well this Etsy Finds post is inspired by my black thumb. I just killed every succulent I own, and if you know anything about succulents they’re supposed to be fool proof. I don’t know what I am doing wrong. I had moved mine all outside to get some extra sun and within 3 days they were all goners. Time to start over (insert major league sad face here). So I started by looking around on Etsy for some succulent inspiration.

Not only can you buy pre-made succulent arrangements or kits but you can also order succulent cuttings in an assortment of different quantities and varieties of succulent plants.

So tell me, what am I doing wrong? Do succulents hate being moved outside or what? I love succulents and I want to have them in my home. I need help!

Succulents and roses are all I can keep alive. I live in San Diego, so there’s climate to consider. My succulents are in partial shade, always. As the sun shifts with seasons, I shift the plants so the get some shade during the day. Second, I only water them once a month. Too much water and they get soft, or even rot. This is all I do besides trim when necessary. I hope it works, succulents are great to have!

That’s probably part of my problem, I watered them, and even though I was trying to be conservative I probably over watered them. I am going to give it another try though because I love the way they look. Thanks for the advice!

Hi! My advice, don’t overwater! Unless you plant is getting MAJOR sun, watering once every two to three weeks is best. If you succulent is ‘fat’, meaning leaves feel plump to the touch then they are “full”. They store the water in there petals so even though the soil maybe dry they are still full of water. If your succulents are “pruning or wrinkly” looking then they are too dry and need watering. Hope this helps! :) Jess with Rooted in Succulents
