Obsessed

Drawing
Our little guy Gus has become a bit obsessed with drawing recently. I’m surprised by this because although Finn likes to draw, he was never really into drawing in a non-stop-over-a-period-of-days-with-only-eating-and-sleeping-as-your-only-other-activities sort of a way. I’ve never seen a kid so into something like this, he watches his hand make the marks and he tears through paper like nobody’s business. I guess I’m lucky he’s only drawing on paper, I’ve gone through about a whole ream in the last 2 days. I’m excited to see him so into something, but the insistant need for crayons and paper is getting a litte OOC (aka “out of control”).

In other news, it’s snowing, and it’s supposed to keep snowing until there is like a foot of snow. Do you guys know how sad this makes me? It’s soul crushing, and I’m not even being over dramatic about it. I find it hard to have the will to do much of anything on days like today. I’m still sitting in my PJ’s. I probably will switch to leggings (aka day time PJ’s) when it’s time to take Finn to school, but under my jacket will be all jams. I have wool socks on, this is the worst. I hate Minnesota right now, and I am desperate for spring.

Uggghhhh!!! I sympathize! Spring cannot come fast enough this year.

Last week I had the good fortune to spend some time at a pool and a sauna. Okay, it may have been snowy outside, but it gave me a small hit of “tropical” that I desperately needed. Maybe it’s time to bring the kids to the local pool?? Or see if there’s a spa-type sauna thing near you?

I second the recommendation to seek out a sauna ASAP. I crave it in the winter, and sometimes knowing I’ll soon get to spend 20 minutes relaxing in cedar scented heat is the only thing that gets me through the day. My husband, on the other-hand, hates being in there, but the refreshing feeling of leaving is such a great boost that he’s a sauna fan too. I use the one at my gym and only as a reward for a workout (unless I’m sick, and then I just let myself go if I think it’l make me feel good). I know for a fact that there are some people that have memberships to my gym JUST for the sauna and steam room :) If you’re not interested in joining a gym, you could still go and get a one of those guest passes for potential members. Then use it to enjoy the sauna, just to get you through this snow. Who knows, you might surprise yourself and really like it! If I were in Minnesota right now, I’d drag you down to my gym just to show you how wonderful and helpful it is :) There’s a reason it’s so popular in those cold, dark Scandinavian countries!

My friends have a Sauna at their amazing cabin, maybe I should just head up north and take a long weekend at the cabin, er, I mean sauna. The worst part is according to the calendar I should have tulips sprouting in my yard, but instead I have snow and wind chills. Thanks for the tip, I will try it sometime.

I know, I really gotta try something like that. Last week me and the kids went to the conservatory for a little humidity but I guess that’s not enough these days. I think the worst part is knowing it should be spring, but having the weather say otherwise. Boo.

It’s funny how different siblings can be! My daughter is only three months old and I can already see how different she is from her big brother ie. actually sleeping at night! Sorry about the snow…I hope it melts fast.

Jessica! Congrats, I didn’t know you were getting a new baby. Hope things have been going well for you. I kind of thought it was easier with the second one. Good luck, and glad to see you around the blog :)

        Thanks for the well wishes!

Le Artiste! I love the pic of him reclining on the couch while he draws. What a funny guy!

I’m glad someone noticed that funny pic, I think it’s kind of hilarious myself. He can’t give up the drawing even when trying to chill. He is a funny dude.

That picture of Gus drawing while laying down on the couch is amazing. Our Gus reads all day, and it’s also totally OOC (the same book upwards of 20 times a day). I wonder how they get a hold of these obsessions.

I can’t imagine what it would like to be dealing with snow in April! It’s like perma-summer in Louisiana. Sors, duder.

Yes, your Gus reads all the time. I love it. He’s been doing that for a long time too hasn’t he.

I guess our pretty falls and makes up for your early summers. I think I’d rather have it your way sometimes. I am seriously so jealous right now.
