Deuce Cities Henhouse

Wazzup team? I wanted to share instructions for these two plug-in sconces that I recently made for our bedroom at the cabin. I wanted to design something that had retro feel to reference the age of the cabin (circa 1968) but I wanted it to be a little sophisticated as well, so I went with the brass finish, wood canopy and the covered twisted cord. I think it looks cool.

As you can see below, the cabin bedrooms are actually coming together. The photo is of the bedroom we claim as ours, but both bedrooms are identical in size and the layout is the same but flipped. I’d like to make both bedrooms similar in style and vibes since they are technically twins, but I’d like to have differences between the two as well. For instance, the bed linens are the same in both, but I’ve been dressing them with different throw pillows to make each unique. I plan to do the same with lighting, rugs, side tables and dressers. Get it? But since we are the kings of this castle, I’ve been focusing more on pulling ours together – it’s a slow process, but it’s getting there.

You could probably build a business around custom lighting design. I am so impressed every time.

You guys are speaking my language. I’d love to, I really enjoy it!

What awesome lights! I second the comment about custom design lighting! Or at least, DIY lighting kits. You have such great ideas – and the results are beautiful!

Danielle! Thank you for this suggestion! I’ve been considering selling my lamps, but wasn’t sure that was exactly what I wanted to do, but I really, really like this idea of making DIY kits! I’m gonna workshop this and see where it takes me. Thanks for the inspiration!

Please do! I love these but know that realistically it will take me forever to hunt down the bits & pieces on my own.

I feel like I should just say “ditto” to the above three commenters. You could have your own lighting design company, the cabin rocks, I’m amazed and inspired. :)

Yes, you guys are being very encouraging. I’m spending the rest of my afternoon researching how I might make this happen. I feel very motivated, thanks for the comment!

Ditto. I will be there to watch renovation shows while you work.

You are always there for me, and I love watching tv in bed with you. I can’t wait ’till we get your fixtures put together! They gonna rock.

Wow, this looks fantastic! I’ll definitely be using this to help me build my own lights someday, so thank you.

    • Scoops February 23, 2018

Thanks Rachel! I’d love to see a picture once you build your own lights :)
