The return to school clearly brought a welcome shift in focus, and I love that you’re using those quieter mornings to document the kitchen and addition progress. It’s amazing how much more manageable a project feels once the beds are made and the daily mess pauses.

It’s amazing how much mental space opens up once the kids are back in school—even when they’re mostly independent, those interruptions really add up. I’m looking forward to seeing what you’ve been slowly changing in the kitchen and addition over the summer.

The return to school clearly brought a welcome reset—made beds, fewer new messes, and enough mental space to revisit the kitchen and addition projects. I’m looking forward to seeing what slowly took shape over the summer.

The return to school clearly brought some much-needed focus back, especially with the beds made and the messes no longer multiplying. I’m looking forward to hearing how the kitchen and addition have progressed since your last update.

The “messes cease being created” line hit home—that quiet after the school drop-off is such a weird, wonderful reset. Can’t wait to see what you’ve been slowly working on in the kitchen and addition; those summer projects always take on a life of their own.

The “beds are made, messes cease being created” line hit me right in the soul — that uninterrupted focus is such a luxury. Can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to with the kitchen and addition now that you finally have a quiet moment to share!

I feel you on the interrupted mental focus — it’s like the moment you sit down to tackle something, a kid materializes with a question about snacks or socks. So glad you finally have quiet time to share the kitchen and addition progress; can’t wait to see what changed over the summer!

This update does a great job showing how much invisible problem-solving sits behind a historic renovation. Matching the new Marvin wood windows to the living and dining rooms, sizing vintage radiators correctly for only 135 square feet, and restoring that marketplace sink all support the old-house character instead of treating the addition as a separate box. The 3D rendering beside the raw framing is especially helpful for understanding the intended flow. I also liked the practical drill-brush tip for the enamel sink. After living through a full heating season, did the two small salvaged radiators deliver the output you calculated for the mudroom and bath?

The side-by-side view of the raw framing and the 3-D rendering makes the change unusually easy to understand. Widening the dining-room opening by borrowing the proportions of the home’s existing openings is a thoughtful way to improve flow without turning a 1910 house into a generic open plan. Matching the wood windows, salvaged radiators, and replicated millwork should make the addition feel genuinely connected to the original rooms. That documented before-and-after would also be a strong reference for a Seed 3D 2 reconstruction.

Just curious, where did you end up sourcing the back door from? We’re searching for a front door with similar divisions and half-lites.
