He’s Here! The newest member of our family arrived last Friday, the 29th at 2:50pm. After many false alarms and lots and lots of waiting he made it up to me with a speedy delivery. He is a happy and healthy baby, only cries if he’s hungry, attempts to sleep at night and nurses like a champ. We’ve been home since Saturday and are adjusting fine. Finn is doing an awesome job as a new big brother and Jeff and I are naturals (so far) at this second-time-parent thing. We hope the next few days keep going as well as the first few have.
I’ve been slowly getting the first floor of my house in order. I recently gave my dining room a face lift. Now that I have gotten that out of the way I have moved on to the adjoining living room. I started the make over by refinishing the hardwood floors on the entire first floor this past weekend. I’ll be telling you all about that adventure later this week. But, now I’ve got to pick out some sweet rugs for these sweet new floors. I came across this beauty of a rug by DIA Rugs. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I’m so hoping I’ll be able to make this rug mine VERY soon! Did you know that I have never ever seen an episode of Mad Men? I’ve been hearing about how awesome the set design is and how awesome the 50’s were and how awesome Don Draper is, for quite some time now. Well, thanks to Netflix instant queue I have finally experienced Don and the gang in action. Yes, I agree, the set design is killer. Yes, I agree, there is a certain something about that Don Draper. I don’t really know if I fully agree that the 50’s were all that awesome from a sociological standpoint…..but I’ll keep watching. I have a feeling that there will be plenty of late nights in front of the TV trying to get as many episodes under our belts as we possibly can. I can’t end this weeks “Cool Things” without mentioning the coolest thing of them all. Our good buddy and my BFF, Scoops will be getting her very own little baby Gus sometime this week! We have all been anxiously awaiting Gus’ arrival and he has really been putting his Mama, Pop and big bro through quite the roller coaster ride of anticipation. We’re ready to meet you already Gus! Scoops, I’m wishing you a happy and safe and easy and fast delivery of this little guy! Your boys are a very lucky bunch to have you. Love you much Lady! Share this... Facebook Pinterest Twitter

Okay it’s official now, this baby is totally late and totally getting on my nerves (literally). I started this month out thinking “Yes, July, my kid is going to be born in July! It’s finally here!” Now I’m starting to think “What the fuck am I going to do if this kid shows up in August, seriously August?” I always assumed that this baby would show his face at least one week before my due date, with good reason. Finn came early, so why wouldn’t this one? That seems logical, right? Previous experience is not the sole reason I thought little dude would be here early, though; I’ve been having regular contractions for the last 8 weeks, and have been dilated for the past 5 (sorry, TMI.) This baby’s tardiness is on the verge of becoming amusing (at my own expense). If you know me at all you know that my #1 pet peeve of all time is the inability to be punctual. It drives me B-A-N-A-N-A-S (hat tip to Gwen-Stefz) when people are late. So it seems fitting that I would give birth to a tardy child. A punishment of some sort. My 2nd kid will start off his first days in this world being late. I hope this isn’t a habit that continues throughout his life as it will end up driving one of us crazy. At least I will always have my anal, obsessive, punctual Finn, like mother like son. 1 for 2 is always better than nothing. Finn, Grammy and I built this cool fort/house last week out of an old box, which provided a morning’s worth of entertainment. I am starting my 3rd week of stay-at-home-mom time and I don’t have a lot to show for it. I was so looking forward to enjoying these last days with Finn, going on adventures having lunch dates and playing in the backyard. Unfortunately my body has been in such agony carrying around this little guy that I haven’t been able to add a lot of entertainment or excitement to Finn’s daily routine. It kinda makes me feel like a bad mom. Due to my inability to function my mom has been babysitting me and Finn since last Thursday. I can not longer drive our car (a stick) due to my sore abdominal muscles and I have to be dependent on Jeff dropping me and Finn off in […]

I’m not sure if I am a big fan of “belly shots” or not. My stomach area is probably the part of my body that I feel most self conscious of when I’m not pregnant and the idea of putting it on display doesn’t sound super fun to me. I avoided the camera like the plague when I was pregnant with finn and only have one real photo of me, and sometimes I regret not having more. 10 years from now I might look back on this time fondly and may want to see how my body looked back then. So, for just the sake of it, here I am future me, don’t forget you hated these last months of being pregnant, you were miserable, achy, sore, bloated, tired, and cramped, and this picture makes it look a lot a better than it actually is, but also, don’t forget it will all be worth it in the end.
Oh my gosh, I can’t even tell you. It took me at least two weeks to get enough energy to take 10 photos and put them on the internet. The problem is I’ve got this baby in my stomach and it makes everything in my life 1000 times harder than it ever was before. These days I can only focus on when my next nap will be, and I haven’t gotten much done. Our etsy store is empty and I can’t muster the motivation to print more stationery, the house is semi-clean but only at a quick glance, laundry gets done when we all get too sick of wearing dirty clothes and Finn spends a lot of time playing by himself. I can’t wait for this tired haze to leave, I’m hoping I will be feeling more energized in the coming weeks. So about this baby, it’s pretty cool from what I can tell. It’s due in July, the due date is actually 5 days apart from what Finn’s was, so I am thinking I will soon be the mom of two kids who have July birthdays within the same week. I can’t even imagine what I would do if this babe was born on Finn and Elsa’s birthday. So be expecting more posts about baby stuff, and nursery decorating in the future. I did have a week off of work over the holidays and Jeff and I were able to check a few things off of our to-do list. Here is a photo from the dining room looking into the living room. We added a new drum shade pendant fixture over our dining room table, we changed out the rug in the living room, and we wallpapered the vestibule. Here’s a better view of the dining room. We changed out this old fixture, with this new Finley Lamp from Crate & Barrel, we are so happy with the results as the old fixture gave off a very orange light and made our grey “Anonymous” wall color appear purple. Plus it looks way better. We ran into one of our first problems with owning a 100 year old home, the old fixture was wired into the knob and tube wiring with speaker cable, plus there was a steel gas line portruding out of the hole behind the fixture. Luckily the gas pipe, used for lighting gas lamps in the olden […]
