Ha, our pets are the same way! When the cats have to puke they find the nearest rug and go to town.

I really like the idea of getting a dark kilim rug too, I've never had one before but I totally love the patterns and shapes. Especially a light pattern on a dark background like the one I featured in the post. I'm for sure going to do some more searching before I make a final decision.

Something to consider, I do have cheapo rug pads under the rug right now, but it doesn't seem to help, obviously. I also think it's more a matter of the rug stretching with the furniture, not just slipping on the floor, if that makes sense.

Thanks for all your feedback :)

Oh no! Really? Ha, I am the same way, I show my husband the rug every chance I get too. This is good information to know!, there's a West Elm not to far from our house and I should head over there sometime and look at it in person. There never seems to be a good time to get there with the kiddos around.

I need to know, what did you get instead? I'm super curious.

Also I wonder if this one would be any better from <a herf="http://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/rugs-usa-moroccan-shag/ivory/200MTVS28A-406.html" rel="nofollow">Rugs USA</a>

Also good rug pads do wonders for keeping rugs in place, I used to constantly adjust our living room rug to match up with the lines in the floorboards as well cause it drove me nuts when it was skewed but a rug pad under made lay flat and stay in place!

I also had been O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D with Souk rug from West Elm - when it first came out I showed it to my husband as often as he'd let me to try to sweeten him on it since he tends to hate rugs. Months and months I told him I wanted it and he finally caved and gave me a gift cert o West Elm for my birthday so I trekked down to my closest West Elm at the time (hour drive) to make sure I liked it in person and boy am I SOOOOO glad I did. After almost a year of loving that rug and wanting it more than anything I suddenly hated it in person. It felt really gross and I couldn't imagine walking on it nor would my fancy vacuum like it. I have an Ikea sheep skin that is plush and lovely and soft to the touch, now imagine this rug as total opposite to that! It is "syntheticy" and feels like a coated grimy dirty rug. It is plush but not in any good way, it's sort of like a coarse dirty dog feel and I personally can't imagine stepping on that all the time. It also looks like it wouldn't be all that easy to clean or vacuum - something that is very important when you have kids and pets. My suggestion is to high tail to your closest store to feel it before the hassle of shipping and returning...

Thanks Abby! We will see, I really want to learn more about #1, my hope is that there is a review out there, or a blog post somewhere that tells me that the rug is invincible and kids can't hurt it :)

Yeah, I don't know about that. The other thing about it, is that in person the white is more of a cream color and I don't know how I feel about that either. I do really like it a lot when I see it others homes. Someday I'd like to have one somewhere in our house.

I've had a few Ikea rugs and they have only ever hold up about 2 years before they start looking old. I bet that's probably true for this one too, but I can't say for sure.
