The basic idea is here: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/369435975659539514/ . I’m going to have to modify for the porch. It will fit right in an awkward space about 2.5 ft wide behind the screened back door on the side of the porch that is open to the outside and flip up when needed but flip down when not being used. Hopefully this feature will keep things feeling open, will weather better than something that would have snow sitting on top of it for 8 months out of the year, and provide ample space for laying out food or, for my fiance who is a writer, laying out a laptop and notebook. Also, no need to purchase and store a card table or something similar!

Oh god! Michele, I have the worlds biggest bleeding heart just by accident, so don’t worry. It came as the smallest little division of my moms plant and immediately turned into that – it grows 3 feet tall (and wide) every year, it’s amazing. The original plant must be so old or something, I have no idea. It’s very happy in this spot though, my other bleeding hearts are not this big, so don’t feel bad.

Of course, work has kicked it up 10 notches in the past few weeks, just as the weather has started to be lovely (I’m also in Minneapolis :) ) and then on Sunday I was floored with mysterious illness that has me trying to convince myself that binge watching shows I was interested in starting is “productive.” Ugh. My main to-do list is planing flowers to fill in my front garden, planting seeds in my planter, planting a new tree, and continuing on the very slow moving project of stripping paint from my porch and repainting it (started last summer, only got a 1/3 of the way through!)

3. paint house (?!)
4. repair concrete in basement
5. seal basement concrete
6. Post-house painting back porch makeover featuring genious hinged flip up table
7. Replace gutter that was torn down by stupid, stupid ice
8. Channel gutter into new rain barrel (note: make rain barrel)
9. build new composting “facility”
10. Get married

Summer is like, 10 months, right? (Hahahaha!)
