I’ve managed to keep 1 of 3 maidenhair ferns alive! I mist it 1 to 2 times a day and keep the soil dampish. It’s one of my favorites too! I put this one on the mantle when I first got it and fried it to a crisp. I thought it was dead for sure, but I just cut the whole plant down to an inch and watered and it came back. It must have 9 lives. =D

Ah, I guess I just need to find a cheaper fern source, and to get a handle on my plant-killing guilt. I’ve had my asparagus fern for a couple of years, and the tip I have is that mine LOVES to have wet feet. The wetter the better. Unhealthy for most plants, but apparently not that one.

Ha! I suppose we just had to make the most of what we have since we plan on staying here a long time. It is a pretty rad basement though, I think I like it better than the rest of the house ;)

Rachael! The secret is that you gotta replace them when they die ;) Seriously though, they are little babys who want moist soil all the time. Anytime we go on vacation I’ll for sure lose one. I just plan on replacing one or two every few months. I always grab the $4.99 pots at the garden store so I’m not spending all the moneys. I love the Asparagus fern, it’s my new favorite!
