Hey Helen! Yeah, our porch is open, but the mail guy just drops it in the mailbox, that would be funny if he would decide to hang out in my porch ;) Yes, we have one singular outlet on the porch, but I have run an extension cord around the perimeter. I think you can see the conduit under the threshold in the photo of the vestibule/dining nook. It's just the plastic stick stuff, super easy to install.

Hey Alyssa! Thank you! Okay, I'm glad that the sofa reads as built-in-ish. That makes me feel way better about it. I love the columns too, and I wish they could be seen from the street, but they are kind of hidden behind the storm and screen windows. Also, I think your rug in the porch will work well for you.

I now know how chaotic a remodel can be, and I feel for you. Focus on getting your house back in order at your own pace, and before you know it, that will feel good enough!

It looks awesome! If I were your mail person, I'd hang out there all the time! Is that a thing where you are? We leave our vestibules unlocked, but lock the inner doors. It makes it easy for packages and such. I bet it looks awesome at night with the shadows from the lamps. Do you have an outlet on the porch or is there some kind of clever cord hiding solution?

Your plan came together so quickly and turned out beautifully! Really, looks amazing! The couch looks "built in" in a good way like a really cozy window seat, but with arms, which is more comfortable anyway. I love the fancy moulding at the top of the column. The rug sets off the sitting area nicely and I'm even liking the texture the carpet adds to the space. You should be proud of yourself!
This is such a great example of how some simple, inexpensive tweaks can make a space wonderful sooner so that you can enjoy it sooner. I'm inspired to do less for once (usually blogs make me want to do more). My porch is next on the list too, but I'm going to use a rug like you to hold off sanding and staining the floors until next year, and only paint and then relax all summer! I'm also totally burned out after a basement remodel which morphed into me OCD about everything that bugged me with the house. I got a lot done, but made myself sick and crazy and unpleasant to be around. This is a good reminder that the point of all these projects is to enjoy life!
