Woah, Mags! I don’t know about that, but I appreciate the compliment :) . I hope phase two comes soon too. I have time set aside next week to head to the cabin and give it my full attention. It’s all a matter of what sort of road blocks I run into. I’ll be sure to report back!

Please, oh please let phase 2 come soon. As is always the case, initial improvements reveal the crapulence of the “original fixtures” Your work is so inspiring ( WAIT…CAN I rewire my own lamp?!?) and I can’t wait to see the complete transformation. I applaud your upcycling of the medicine cabinet! Yeah! Have you considered temporarily stuffing something into the new holes (especially those intended for electricity) and painting the exposed portion black to match the frame? I do not think the holes will be noticeable with black surrounding the openings. This will allow you to convert the mirror again at some point if you desire. I admire your creativity! It really looks to be coming together! Go you!

This looks amazing!!! I love how the linear panels on the vanity work with the board and batten and the over all cabin-y feel. Can’t wait to see how you attack the tub surround.

We renovated two bathrooms in our house at the same time (before moving, thank goodness!) and used tub surrounds because they are so fast. We managed to find one that looks sleek and is easy to clean. One day I hope to have a luxurious tiled bathroom, but in this instance I needed it does quickly. Hi Ma! Thanks for always saying such nice things to me. I’m glad I fooled you, that makes me feel better about it. I did just take those fluorescent side lights off and put the cabinet back in. I do really love that tilting mirror I mentioned in the “shop the look” but it’s just too much right now.

I would’ve figured that you would’ve figured out the board bit was just a wall – I thought about doing actual board because of unevenness of the adhesive, but then I’d have to take the toilet off to fit around the plumbing and skim coating just started making more sense. Love ya, always!

In reply to Diane. Hi Diane! The mirror frame is larger than the medicine cabinet by an inch or so, there would be room to add a strip of laminate. This is what I was originally thinking - like those iron on laminate strips? Thanks for the suggestion!

Hi, it’s yer Ma,
I just have to say” you fooled me!” I lived in the before and a few times with the “ after”( so far)of this bathroom , I had no idea that was the same medicine cabinet! You did great with the paint. I also thought, on my inspection, it was “ board”: great job with those vertical brush strokes. Fooled me twice! Nice job , nice way to keep to your budget , and of course all your talent( blah, blah, blah!)! Always enjoy how much you accomplish and that you pause to photograph it mid- course so we can see the effort feel the pain and enjoy the transition. Carry- on.

I can’t tell if the mirror is the same size as the frame of the cabinet. If not couldn’t you add a piece of wood laminate and paint it?

Would you consider maybe some stained 1x’s surrounding the medicine cabinet frame? Could give it a nice, warm and cabin-y vibe to it, without being overwhelming! I love what you’ve done so far.
