Deuce Cities Henhouse

As you can imagine or maybe have experienced, it’s hard to furnish an entire cabin. Your basically starting at square one, and a lot of what we have at the cabin has been stuff I’ve been socking away in hopes of one day having a cabin. The room that really took the brunt of my alley-garbage-day-finds was the guest bedroom. Everything in that room except for the the clothing rack, and the sheets is either from the garbage, something that has been donated to me, or something that I have hoarded. READ MORE

Guys!, do you like the rhyme in my the title? I'm kind of a rapper, so, that's cool. Anyway, I'm usually a fan of CB2 stuff, but I never really buy it for myself, you know what I mean? I have a set of coffee cups and a grey pouf ...

I Couldn’t Help Myself

Hi! I’m Alison Allen

I started Deuce Cities Henhouse in 2009 – a blog about fixing up and restoring my 110-year-old Minneapolis home and updating our worn out and out, dated Wisconsin cabin. My family and I (my husband and two boys) moved into our current home nearly ten years ago, and since then I’ve been chronicling my journey of owning, renovating, decorating and DIY-ing our home.

I’m passionate about empowering women to take on projects that they might have normally not had the confidence to do, incorporating modern design and aesthetic into my home, thoughtful design solutions, and landscaping. I’ve done it all, from easy do-it-yourself home improvement projects to full on renovations and remodels.
