Deuce Cities Henhouse

This ORC business is is no joke. I think this is the week that will read most boring-est on the internet. Because, basically all I have been doing is painting. I’m so sick of painting. I used to like painting, but for some reason, I’m just over it this time around. I think it’s because I really want to get to the part where I transform that basic Ikea bed of mine into a blue tufted dream. That’ll be when it gets good... READ MORE

As I was trolling the shopping waters of the internet the other day I spotted this Modernica planter on sale over at fab.com. The only problem is that it’s $119 (for the small size) on sale (normally $149). I don’t know why I even consider these sorts of things. Yes, ...

Snow Daze

Hi! I’m Alison Allen

I started Deuce Cities Henhouse in 2009 – a blog about fixing up and restoring my 110-year-old Minneapolis home and updating our worn out and out, dated Wisconsin cabin. My family and I (my husband and two boys) moved into our current home nearly ten years ago, and since then I’ve been chronicling my journey of owning, renovating, decorating and DIY-ing our home.

I’m passionate about empowering women to take on projects that they might have normally not had the confidence to do, incorporating modern design and aesthetic into my home, thoughtful design solutions, and landscaping. I’ve done it all, from easy do-it-yourself home improvement projects to full on renovations and remodels.
