Cabin Plan – Version I

Hey buds, I'm sure you've noticed my lack of blogging lately, I've been posting about once a week, and I will be the first to admit that the posts have been kinda lack luster. We have been busy with cabin things, there has been so much to do with inspections and appraisals and negotiations and furniture purchasing and so on. Sometimes I wish I could just talk about all cabin stuff all the time, READ MORE

Future House: Internet Tour!

Well, we visited our future house last Sunday. It will most likely be the last time we see it until we close in March, so I snapped some quick photos and have decided to share them with the internet, mostly because I am too excited to keep them to myself.

A ...

Handmade Knit Christmas Gifts

Part of my December's blog absence is due to these beauties right here. I'm pretty sure as of December 24th I kind of hated knitting. I've been non-stop working on these cranberry socks for my dear old mom's Christmas gift.

The pattern is called "Child's French Sock" and is from my ...
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I started my new year by standing outside forEVER, while waiting to watch my friends and husband jump into a faareezing Lake Minnetonka. The thermometer was only reading 2º. Colez kept me company on the sidelines and we were able to snap a few photos of these crazies..

The lake jump ...

Alright, Alright. I can not take it any longer.

Sketchbook: Our Future Bedroom

So Jeff and I started house hunting yesterday, which is something that I have secretly and not so secretly been waiting to do for a long time. I've been trying to keep myself quiet in a lame attempt not to psych myself out, but if you are my close friend ...

Hi! I’m Alison Allen

I started Deuce Cities Henhouse in 2009 – a blog about fixing up and restoring my 110-year-old Minneapolis home and updating our worn out and out, dated Wisconsin cabin. My family and I (my husband and two boys) moved into our current home nearly ten years ago, and since then I’ve been chronicling my journey of owning, renovating, decorating and DIY-ing our home.

I’m passionate about empowering women to take on projects that they might have normally not had the confidence to do, incorporating modern design and aesthetic into my home, thoughtful design solutions, and landscaping. I’ve done it all, from easy do-it-yourself home improvement projects to full on renovations and remodels.
