Deuce Cities Henhouse

Hey guys! Just wanted to pop on in and share a little progress report in the bathroom. Take a look down below to see what it was looking like a few months ago before I started its facelift. So how do you pump a bit of charm and character into a tiny bathroom? In a nut shell, I took elements from the rest of the cabin and put them on blast in the half bath. I wanted it to be a bite sized version of cabin. The exterior of the cab is clad in board & batten, so I thought it would be cool to repeat the look in the bathroom, the wallpaper in buffalo check is a pattern found repeatedly (maybe even too much, but who cares!) throughout the cabin, and the flooring was used in our kitchen and main floor bath... My June Garden

Holy cow, it's already been a month already. Well I was really looking forward to June's garden until the painters came. All the handwork that I put in during March, April and May was ruined by heavy ladders. It's not a total loss, but the weeds are out of control ...

Hi! I’m Alison Allen

I started Deuce Cities Henhouse in 2009 – a blog about fixing up and restoring my 110-year-old Minneapolis home and updating our worn out and out, dated Wisconsin cabin. My family and I (my husband and two boys) moved into our current home nearly ten years ago, and since then I’ve been chronicling my journey of owning, renovating, decorating and DIY-ing our home.

I’m passionate about empowering women to take on projects that they might have normally not had the confidence to do, incorporating modern design and aesthetic into my home, thoughtful design solutions, and landscaping. I’ve done it all, from easy do-it-yourself home improvement projects to full on renovations and remodels.
